I Made A New Makeup Challenge!

This post is inspired by the Ace Beaute Cosmetics Paletteopoly eyeshadow palette game. I was very intrigued when it was first announced, and then just a bit let down when we all collectively discovered that the game could only be played with the palette it is sold with. At the very least, I knew a lot of others in my own circle who were hoping for a game that could be played like "palette bingo" but as a physical product.

A bit later on, a video crossed my homepage on Youtube and although it was from four years ago, I still watched it because it was a different sort of palette bingo: the person used a D20 die to roll for how basic or dramatic her makeup products would be, as well as for colors to use in a particular eyeshadow palette. She called it the "D20 Makeup Challenge."

As someone who recently got into playing D&D, I thought this was a fangtastic idea! Their rules were quite simple, for each face makeup "category" they rolled a D20 (or using a random number generator to roll between 1 and 20). The rules were fairly simple: roll the D20 and the number it landed on determined how basic or extra the makeup would be.

1-10 = natural or low key makeup

11-15 = everyday or glam makeup

16 - 20 = dramatic/editorial/high glam/drag/sfx

Rolling a 1 or a 20 is a critical failure or critical hit in D&D. She didn't really have any rules for landing either of those, but she did get a 20 for her eyebrows, so she decided to do rainbows for them! For her eyeshadow itself, she used a palette that had 12 pans, so she rolled a D12 die to determine which shadows to use, but she didn't really have any rules for placement, as she made it up herself on the fly in the video. I wanted to add some rules for that!

Ideal Collab Palette/Collection

For some reason, I started day dreaming about what I would want to do if a makeup brand approached me, wanting to do a collab palette or even a whole collection of makeup. I love wrestling of course, so I'd want it wrestling themed. Some of my favorite wrestlers are also Luchadors and sometimes their styles are so fast and high flying, they're amazing to watch!

I'm not Latino, but I would want to make sure I worked with a Latino/Latina owned beauty company because I'm thinking I'd actually really love to see a Lucha Libre themed makeup set. I think Glamlite would be my dream company to collab on a palette or collection with out of all the ones I currently know of. Of course I do own many palettes from them and love their formulas, but I also love the owner, Gisselle's, mission statement:

"Her dream was to create a cosmetic brand where everyone would feel welcomed, represented and accepted. Our brand was developed with the motto of "beauty isn't a one size fits all"."

I'm not sure exactly what I'd want to do, for a palette's color story. I'd definitely want bold, bright colors, that's for sure! I might even try to ask one of my favorite wrestlers if we could use their likeness on the cover art (and thus a color story would probably be born). And I would definitely name colors after my favorite wrestlers, too!
